Medright's has a 3-day program to assist amazing providers as they learn Phlebotomy and IV infusions in a supportive controlled environment. Students emerge with a deeper understanding of the procedures and how to avoid possible complications. Students report their confidence in performing these skills is greatly improved after attending the course.
Phlebotomy for Nurses and Advanced Providers:
In this specialized 3-day course students will spend time on day 1 going over all the necessary equipment and all procedures for drawing from antecubital fossa and hand draws, how to recognize and avoid complications and hands on mannequin practice. The 2nd day student are performing actual venipunctures in an assisted environment using straight gauges and winged infusion sets called butterflies.
IV Skills Class:
IV's are a medically invasive procedure that should only be performed by specifically trained providers. On the 3rd day of the course students are building on their Phlebotomy skills.
Medright highly skilled Instructor will provide a review of A & P affecting IV placement, the importance of infection control and the aseptic techniques needed for starting IV’s. The different types of fluids used for IV’s, medical conditions warranting each specific type of fluids and catheters are also covered.
A majority of the evening students will be engaged in hands on time using the equipment starting actual IV's. They will learn how to monitor and discontinue them as well.
This class is open to senior nursing students, licensed LPN/RN's, PA's, physicians and other advanced providers with established healthcare experience.
